Parental Alliance, Postpartum, and Parent Infant Bond

The Book talks about forming a parental alliance before the baby is born. I think that is very important so you don't have to argue over everything after the baby is born. My husband and I grew up in very different households, so our opinions do differ, but we try really hard to meet in the middle. I never had a serious case of postpartum depression after Addi was born. I do remember crying sometimes and feeling overwhelmed, but I think that was just because I was tired. It's hard raising your first child and it's hard to know if everything you're doing is right. It's easy to get stressed out.

The book also discusses the importance of forming a parent-infant bond. The books definition of this is a strong, loving connection that forms as parents hold, examine, and feed their newborn. I think that this is very true. I can still remember the feelings I had when I held my baby the first time! The feeling of love for your own child is very overwhelming. Nursing Addi was the best time I had with her. It was so nice to have time when it was just her and me.
